The privilege of addressing youth | Special screening in Loches, France

L’ Europe en berry Touraine is a cultural festival organised for more than a decade in central France. There, almost 200 youngsters from across Europe meet to share their interests, skills and concerns and explore each other’s cultures. This year as well, a group of approximately 140 youngsters from 20 European countries attended a PDSFF screening, specially curated to address a transnational audience of adolescents. They exchanged on questions of solidarity, the importance of speaking out and of allowing oneself to take action even when your body tries to hold you back.

The films screened:

Bird Drone, dir. Radheya Jang Jegatheva (Australia, 8:55’)

A heartfelt story of unrequited love explored through a lonely seagull struggling to accept that his newfound object of affection is a human-operated drone with a limited battery life.

Furious, dir. Thomas Vernay (France, 20’)

Lola, 17, joins an educational detention center reserved for teenage girls. Despite the tensions, she admires the bond that the other girls have. But around the center lurks a terrible threat.

We feel grateful for all the inputs and contributions. À bientôt!
